Textiles support your life.
We make samurai textiles with techniques from our ancestors. The history of EBISUYA dates back to the Edo period, when he was a dyer for the Lord of the Nambu Domain. It has been 420 years since the first Ebisuya Sanemon moved from Kyoto to Iwate in 1599. For this reason, we call it "Nambu traditional stencil dyeing".
We have learned from the wisdom of our ancestors and are committed to sustainability, including traditional techniques to reduce chemical glues, and the use of natural dyes.
In the olden days, elegant patterns that have meanings such as wishes for happiness, health, and longevity were only allowed to the samurai class.

EBISUYA MINGEI
As a new Japanese style, we propose a fabric that inherits the spirit of Mingei.
What is Mingei ?
Mingei are "People's Crafts".
It is a lifestyle and culture movement advocated by many prominent craftsmen such as Soetsu Yanagi and Bernard Leach in 1926 (Taisho 15).
This movement celebrates the tools of daily life that reflect the local character, created by the hands of nameless craftsmen.
"Beauty is in everyday life."
"There is wholesome beauty in functionality."
Mingei has a simple taste and beauty that is comparable to works of art.
